Club News May 2020
Returning To Normal
We are cautiously excited to slowly return to normal at Gold Key. The past month and a half has been a challenging time for the club, but we continued to remain open while still observing local, state and federal guidelines. We are big believers that exercise and sunlight are great contributors to help boost your immune system. As we slowly increase operations and activity, we ask everyone to continue to follow guidelines to ensure the safety of our staff and guests as directed by the CDC. This includes covering all coughs and sneezes, cleaning and sanitizing your hands often and maintain recommended distancing. If you or anyone in your household is feeling ill, please refrain from visiting the club. For more information go to www.cdc.gov. Thank you!

SWITA High School State Championships
As many of you know, the High School tennis season was cut short, and this especially hit hard many of the graduating seniors. Because we are a verified UTR facility, we made the decision to host the 2020 Arizona High School State Championships. The event will be open to the top 32 singles players and top 16 doubles teams in D1, D2 and D3. Seeding will be based on UTR. To be entered, players must be listed and played on the 2020 season roster. This will be a 4 day tournament for each HS Division with D3 starting May 21st, D2 starting May 28th, and D1 starting June 4. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place and each player will receive a tournament shirt. The format will be single elimination draw. We will also be live streaming all finals matches! The best part is that because we are a verified UTR facility, these matches will be recorded as Arizona High School State Championships, even though it is not AIA sanctioned. Players need to sign up at https://app.myutr.com/clubs/7597. If you have questions, please contact Luis Ridaura at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Summer Tennis Camp
The summer tennis camp is for recreational players and the first session starts June 1st! There are half day and full day programs, and open to kids of all levels of play, ages 5 to 14! Camp is an amazing value and for the 2 week member rate, averages out to $5.25 an hour for instruction, activity and lunch! We also offer a second child discount of 10% off your total bill.
For the advanced juniors, we will be holding Summer Intensives for competitive USTA and High School Players. Training is Monday through Thursday and run from 10am to 2pm, with three hours of on court training and conditioning. The last hour will be pool time to relax and recover. Discounts will be offered for ranked USTA players. Information on both programs is available at the front desk and online.
Jr Tennis Academy New Session
The last session of the after school Junior Tennis Academy started the week of April 27th. This includes all classes from beginner to the advanced tournament player. If you miss the start date, remember you can join in anytime and we will prorate the remainder of the session. If you have any questions on the program or where your junior fits in, please contact Director Luis Ridaura at email@example.com.
Beer Club Meeting
Our next Beer Club meeting will be held on Friday, May 29th at 6pm. This meeting is open for all current and prospective beer club members. This will be a great opportunity to regroup and discuss the future tour of Uncle Bears Brewery and other outings. We will also be presenting new member’s engraved beer glasses! For additional activity, we will set up corn hole, play ping pong and possibly some Texas Hold-Em.
