Celebrating 30 Years at Gold Key!
A Big thank you to everyone who came out last month as we celebrated our 30th Anniversary! We had a great turnout for the tennis clinics and some fun social play. After playing, we fired up the grill for dinner and then we were treated to some excellent tennis exhibitions thanks to our Elite Academy juniors, and the Prudhomme and Hing families for some fun mixed doubles. For those who hung in there until the very end, we had a very special pool side concert with local musician Jeordie Schekeryk! As an added bonus, all attendees received a free 30 year commemorative t-shirt! If you are a member and were unable to attend, we may still have a t-shirt waiting for you, so be sure to check with the front desk. Once again, thank you for your support!
Ice Cream Tennis Social
It is warming up and we can’t think of a better way to welcome the heat, than with an Ice Cream Tennis Social! Join us on Saturday, June 19th at 6pm! The evening will feature Social Doubles play, with timed rounds and rotating courts. A big Freezer will be set out for players to grab ice cream between rounds. After play, corn hole will be out and swimming will be encouraged for those wishing to cool off! The price is $20 for Members and $25 for Non-Members. Please sign up in advance and all levels of play are invited! Any questions, please reach out to Adult Director Cody at .
Welcome Cate Broerman
We are excited to announce that former local tennis star, Cate Broerman, will be helping out on court with both the junior and adult programs at the club beginning in June. For those of you how don’t know Cate, she was a junior player at the club over a decade ago and became one of the top players in the nation. More recently, Cate played 1 & 2 in singles and doubles for Gonzaga and posted some impressive wins. She will be sharing her knowledge and passion for tennis at the club and we are thrilled to have her on board!
Recreational Summer Tennis Camp
The summer tennis camp for recreational players starts June 7th! For recreational players, there are half day and full day programs, and open to kids of all levels of play, ages 5 to 14! Camp is an amazing value which includes instruction, activity and lunch! We also offer a second child discount of 10% off your total bill. To sign up, you first need to register your camper with us and you can do so by going to and select the “Member Portal” in the top of the page, then select “Sign Up.” When registering, enter your juniors info, but the parent’s phone and e-mail. After you have registered, call the club and let us know what dates you want to attend and we will reserve your spot. The biggest discount is for the 2 week session. Also remember that days do not need to be consecutive, so you can break up attendance days if needed. Don’t delay as camp is filling up and we are capping attendance this year.
Elite & High School Summer Tennis Training
For the Elite and High School juniors, Summer training begins Monday, June 7th. Training for High School players will be on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30am-11am. For Elite (competitive USTA players), training is Monday through Thursday from 10am to 2pm, with three hours of on court training and conditioning. The last hour will be pool time to relax and recover. Elite players have the option of training 2, 3 or 4 days a week. We have added a dedicated performance speed and agility coach for the summer training as well as a mental toughness coach. Information on both programs is available at the front desk and online. Any question regarding this group should be directed to Coach Luis Riduara at .
Adult Clinic Changes
We have added an additional Beginner Clinic on Tuesdays at 7am. The Thursday All Level Clinic has been moved to 7am. Confirm clinic times online as several classes have been shifted for summer hours beginning on Monday, May 31st. Remember, if you have an idea for a new or additional clinic, be sure to share them with Adult Director Cody Kacerek at .
