Wood Racquet Classic – Saturday, July 12 at 7:00 p.m.
Wimbledon is in full swing, and that means it’s time to celebrate tradition right here at Gold Key! The Wood Racquet Classic returns on Saturday, July 12 at 7:00 p.m., bringing vintage vibes and friendly competition to the courts. This year features a team showdown between Coach Cody Kacerek and Coach Judah Vlad. All levels are welcome to join, but space is limited—talk to a captain soon to claim your spot.
The evening will begin with timed rounds of doubles and mixed doubles using modern racquets. For the final round, we’ll throw it back with classic wooden racquets. After play wraps up, enjoy a delicious post-match meal with assorted sandwiches, macaroni salad, and the Wimbledon favorite—strawberries and cream. Beer and seltzers will be available as well.
Cost: $15 for members | $25 for non-members.
It’s a night of tennis, nostalgia, and fun—don’t miss it!
Hot as Hell Shootout: Men’s Open – July 25–27
Get ready for the heat of competition as Foley Ranch Boots & BBQ and Southwest International Tennis Academy (SWITA) team up to present the Hot as Hell Shootout: Men’s Open 2025. The tournament takes place July 25 through 27 at Gold Key and brings together the top 32 men’s players for a high-stakes, UTR Verified event.
Players will compete in a single-elimination format with best-of-three sets (using a 10-point tiebreak in lieu of the third set). The $100 entry fee includes a tournament t-shirt, match balls, trophies, and a shot at the prize pool: $1,000 to the champion, $500 to the finalist, and $100 to each semifinalist.
Registration is open through July 21, and spectator admission is just $10, which includes a hotdog and soft drink voucher. Visit www.GoldKeyRacquetClub.com or www.UTR.com to register.
Gold Key Olympics Recap
The Gold Key Olympics in June was a huge hit! Players competed in a mix of lighthearted events including Tennis Pong, Tiny Tennis Pong, table tennis, corn hole, and can jam. It was all fun and games—until the final round!
The championship came down to an exciting Tennis Pong match, where Katie Beers and Alfredo Cobon edged out Scott Rowe and Amy Foreman for the win. Thanks to everyone who participated—we’re already talking about doing it again in the coming months, so stay tuned!
